About Woodville Baptist Church

Woodville was established June 24, 1959 and is Independent Baptist in denomination.

We believe that God should be the center of one's life, and worship is where we anticipate the presence of God and celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ. Excitement is a key goal because our faith is exciting. We seek to achieve it through both traditional and contemporary activities, congregational involvement, and a diversity in our music offerings.

Worship is where we utilize our people's variety of talents and gifts to develop an atmosphere in which there is an encounter with God that you are eager to repeat and where next week is not a clone of the last.

At Woodville Baptist Church, you will hear the Bible preached in sermons that touch the heart, address the intellect, explore the spirit, spark the imagination and strive to make a change in your life. We look forward to worshiping with you!

To become a Christian one must:

  • Believe by faith that Jesus is the Savior and Lord. (Eph. 2:8)
  • Confess your sins. This is facing your sins, admitting those sins, and agreeing with a holy righteous God that you are a sinner. (Rom. 10:9-10 & 1 John 1:9)
  • Repent of those sins. This is being remorseful for breaking God's standards. It is asking to be forgiven and turning away from your sinfulness toward God (Acts 3:19, 8:22, & 26:20).
  • Surrender your life to the Holy Spirit's guiding. This is promising to let Jesus live a holy life in you. (1 Cor. 6:19-20)

We invite you to become a member of Woodville Baptist Church!

  • By baptism. Following the steps above, one is baptized by immersion.
  • By transfer of membership from another church. Coming from another church in which you have made a profession of faith and been baptized by immersion.
  • By profession of faith in Jesus Christ. You have surrendered your life to Jesus and been baptized by immersion but have never been a member of another church.
  • By restoration. Those who have been disciplined may return to full membership upon recommitment to God.

Our Pastor

Jordan Philpott

Jordan is originally from Charleston, IL. After high school, he immediately pursued a career in the fire service, completing his EMT-Basic licensing the summer after graduation in 2007, and later his EMT-Paramedic licensing in 2010. After being hired, Jordan served the Charleston Fire Department for 13 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, before receiving the call to ministry while attending Shepherd’s Conference in 2024.

Jordan and his wife Stephanie met while working in the medical field, marrying in 2012. Together they have 5 children: Alexis, Kylie, Chase, Bradley, and Logan.

After receiving the call to ministry, Jordan entered seminary at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree with an advanced graduate certificate in Biblical Theology. On completion, Jordan intends to pursue his Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus in Biblical Theology at SBTS.

Beginning in the winter of 2024, Jordan assisted in preaching for Wednesday night services at Broadway Christian Church, as well as serving as an apprentice elder from January to August of 2025.

Jordan is a fan of the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Avalanche, Louisville Cardinals basketball, and Miami Hurricanes football.

Jordan’s Favorite Quotes:

“For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” -1 Corinthians 2:2

“God had a plan for your life before you were born. God has a plan for all the days of your life on earth. God has a plan for your eternal destiny through the Kinsman-Redeemer par excellence, the Lord Jesus Christ!” – H.B. Charles

MARK AND HELEN BEGARLY - Biography

Truly, Mark & Helen exist in a limbo status between two worlds, but the Zimbabwe Staff was quite full! Mark & Helen are both native to Southern Indiana where they spent most of their childhood. Mark was a block mason for 20 years and started his own construction company.

The Lord called Mark & Helen into the preaching ministry and he began attending Louisville Bible College. In 1987 he moved the family (Annette, Melissa, & Heather) to Knoxville, TN to attend Johnson University (then Bible College). Mark preached at Meadowbrook Christian Church and continued full-time after graduating. In 1992, Mark and Helen once again answered the Lord's call to further the kingdom by moving to Zambia to work with the established Zambia Christian Mission. Heather being the youngest, joined them on the mission field. In 1996, the Begarly's had made the move to Zimbabwe to start a Camp Ministry and since then many more have been started.

When on furlough, Knoxville, TN is called home. When not in Knoxville Mark and Helen can usually be found at an interstate Cracker Barrel as they tour the US, updating the supporting Churches, preaching revivals, and spending time at VBS' and Camps.

Mark and Helen's three daughters all married and stayed in Knoxville. They also have 6 grandchildren.
